We live in a world where disordered eating is so common, so normalized, and so celebrated that most people don’t even recognize it anymore.
Tracking every gram, weighing yourself every day, avoiding food after a certain time, starting over every Monday, bouncing from keto to carnivore to fasting to “reset” plans. This behavior is praised as discipline, dedication, and commitment to health, but if someone chooses to remove foods that are destroying them, set real boundaries, and stop numbing with food? Suddenly that person is “too extreme.”
That should tell you something.
Obsession Has Been Rebranded as Health
Let’s call this what it is. Disordered eating isn’t just bingeing and purging. It’s also:
Taking your bathroom scale with you on vacation
Panicking when a meal isn’t perfectly tracked
Feeling guilty for eating
Needing food rules to feel safe
Living in constant fear of “messing up”
Starting over again and again and again
These behaviors are incredibly common and that’s exactly why they’ve been normalized, but normal doesn’t mean healthy. Living your life ruled by food, numbers, and fear is not wellness, it’s a type of prison.
Why You Keep Diet-Hopping
I work with women who are smart, motivated, and genuinely trying and yet they feel stuck. They’ve tried everything: Keto, intermittent fasting, carnivore, obsessive macro tracking, bio-hacking, supplements, challenges, resets.
They all ask the same thing:
“Why can’t I just stick to something?” Here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear….You’re not failing at diets, you’re just avoiding the real work. You keep searching for the perfect external system because you haven’t healed your relationship with food. You’re trying to fix an internal struggle with external rules and that’s why nothing sticks.
The Wellness Industry Profits From Your Disordered Relationship With Food
There are influencers who look incredibly “successful” online. They have the perfect before-and-after photos. They claim long-term consistency and they wear their diet label like an identity, but many of these people are still deeply trapped. Some of them travel with not just a food scale… but a body scale. They still weigh themselves on vacation, they still live in fear of losing control, they still feel ruled by food and their body. That’s not freedom, that’s obsession with better marketing.
What Real Food Freedom Actually Feels Like
I don’t care what diet label you use. Keto. Low-carb. Carnivore. Whole foods. None of that is the point.
What I care about is this: Can you eat without panic? Can you enjoy your life without food running the show? Can you go out to dinner without spiraling? Can you stop “starting over” every Monday? Can you trust yourself around food?
Real food freedom looks like: Peace in your mind, stability in your eating, no more constant white-knuckling, no obsession with the scale, no living in fear of food. It feels calm, boring and normal and that’s exactly what so many people are missing.
You Don’t Need Another Reset, You Need Recovery
If you’ve been on the food roller coaster for years, the answer is not another challenge, detox, or protocol. You don’t need to “try harder.” You need to finally address the relationship between you and food. That’s what recovery is. It’s not about the pursuit of perfection. It’s about stability, honesty and learning how to live without numbing, controlling, or punishing yourself with food. Until you learn how to do that, no diet will ever bring you peace.
You Deserve a Life That Isn’t Ruled by Food
If you’re exhausted, if you’re tired of being obsessed, if you’re done fighting your body and your brain…This is your invitation to stop chasing external solutions and start doing the real work that actually changes your life. You don’t need another label. You need freedom and it’s possible when you finally stop trying to micromanage food and start healing the relationship underneath it.
