Feeling Stuck?

If you’ve been waiting to feel ready to change your relationship with food, I need to tell you something that might shift everything: You will never feel ready and that’s because ready isn’t a feeling, It’s a decision.

This is where so many women stay stuck in binge eating, emotional eating, sugar addiction, and the start-over cycle because they’re waiting for motivation, waiting for life to calm down, waiting for Monday, waiting for after the vacation and waiting until they “feel ready.”

The problem with that is recovery doesn’t start with a feeling, it starts with a choice.

Why You Feel Stuck in Food Addiction Recovery

When you struggle with food addiction or disordered eating, your brain craves comfort. It wants what’s familiar, even if what’s familiar is bingeing at night, emotionally eating after stress, or promising to “be good” tomorrow.

Change feels uncomfortable and that discomfort gets labeled as:

  • “I’m not ready.”

  • “Now isn’t a good time.”

  • “I need to get in a better headspace first.”

What you’re really feeling is resistance and resistance is normal. It does not mean you’re incapable of recovery, it means you’re standing at the edge of growth.

The Truth About Motivation and Readiness

Most people think motivation comes first, but It doesn’t. Action comes first, confidence comes later and momentum builds after that.

Every woman I’ve coached who finally found food sobriety said some version of this:

“I didn’t feel ready, I was scared, but I was more scared of staying the same.”

That’s the shift. You don’t wait until you feel strong, you decide, and strength develops because of the decision.

How to Move Forward When You Don’t Feel Ready

If you’re stuck in the cycle of binge eating or constantly restarting your diet, here’s what moving forward actually looks like:

1. Stop waiting for perfect timing

There will always be stress, there will always be holidays, and there will always be reasons to delay.

2. Make one clear decision

Not ten, not a complete life overhaul….just Oone decision. For example: “I am no longer negotiating with drug foods.”

3. Take one immediate action

Sign up for support, clean out your pantry, tell someone you trust and create structure for tomorrow.

Momentum doesn’t come from thinking about change, it comes from making moves.

You Don’t Need to Feel Ready to Start Food Sobriety

If you’ve been losing and regaining the same weight for years, it’s not because you’re lazy or undisciplined, it’s because you’ve been trying to solve a relationship problem with a willpower solution.

Food addiction recovery requires a roadmap to follow, accountability, support, a new way of thinking and most importantly, a decision.

The decision that you are done living on autopilot, that peace matters more than comfort and the decision that this time will be different because you will be different.

Ready Isn’t a Feeling. It’s a Decision.

If you’re tired of trying to do this alone, this is your next step.
