Do you struggle to reach your weight loss goals? You might think it’s because you lack will power and discipline, when the reality is you suffer from some form of disordered eating.
But how do you know?
The world tells us food is pleasure which can make it hard for us to realize the difference between being a “foodie” and a food addict.
Here are some signs that you have food addiction and disordered eating (which ARE characteristics of eating disorders):
REGULAR CRAVINGS - A consistent desire for specific types of foods, typically hyper palatable high carb/sugar type foods that cause you to want more and more each time you eat them. You know these foods don’t serve you well, but you persist in eating them even when you want to stop.
BINGE EATING - Binge eating is eating large amounts of food in relatively short periods of time. You may feel out of control and keep eating even when you already feel stuffed. It typically starts with a “just one bite“ declaration and then a spiral downward into a full-blown food fest.
SECRET EATING - You hide food and you eat it when you’re alone. You look forward to being alone so that you can eat whatever you want without being embarrassed, or ashamed of what other people might say or think. You hide the evidence of your eating by concealing wrappers/containers.
HEALTH PROBLEMS - You have type two diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, skin issues, or other problems all directly related to diet/food.
OFTEN FEEL POWERLESS - You feel out of control and can’t seem to reel yourself in even when you want to.
MANY FALSE STARTS - You have a history of failed attempts trying to moderate certain foods, reduce consumption or eliminate certain foods only to not be able to in the long run. You are in a regular cycle of starting, stopping, and starting over.
If this is you, I want to help you. My Food Freedom program was designed for people like you (I was this person!) that want to be free of this endless cycle of feeling like food is the boss of you and feeling like you are a slave to food.
Recognizing the signs of disordered eating is paramount to your weight loss success. Eating disorders are progressive and can literally become a life or death situation if you don’t take back your power.
There’s no shame in needing help or support. It can make all the difference in you finding your food freedom and finally finding peace with food and your body.
